About Wooly Stash

Hi, I'm Michou.

I've been crocheting for about two to three years now, and honestly I never expected that of myself. I've always been creative: it started early with my gran and mom, making cards together. Anyone remember The People of Laaf? ;)

Over the years I've taught myself all kinds of things: making jewellery, sewing, knotting wall hangings with macramé (still do that occasionally), you name it. Normally I dive in headfirst and the interest fades again.

With crochet, it's been different.

My favourite things to make are plushies, and by now my whole house is full of soft, fluffy friends.

For me, crochet is a way to unwind. I can't meditat, my body is far too restless for that, but counting stitches works the same way for me. Just switching off for a bit. Especially alongside a technical office job, that's sometimes exactly what I need.

Over those years of crocheting I've come across all kinds of yarn. But the brands I keep coming back to are Alize, Himalaya and Wolans. Soft, reliable, such beautiful colors and so many of them.

The only problem: they're hard to find in the Netherlands. High shipping costs and long waits when ordering from abroad. That felt like an unnecessary barrier to me.

That's why I started Wooly Stash

Everything I carry, I use myself. No brands I don't know, no yarns I'm not genuinely enthusiastic about.

Honest advice from someone who uses it too.
